PowerDig Project Showcased at NTNU Energy Transition Week

During this year’s Energy Transition Week, held from March 11-15 in Trondheim, Norway, the PowerDig project was prominently featured in a workshop focused on Power Markets. This event was a pivotal moment for participants to explore the challenges and solutions related to the decarbonization of our energy system.

The PowerDig team, including Mette Helene Bjørndal from NHH and Ehsan Nokandi from NTNU, took the stage to present their groundbreaking work on modeling Norway’s electricity market chain. This model encompasses the Day-Ahead (DA) market, intraday market, and the redispatch process, highlighting the intricate details and potential impacts of these components on market operations.

A significant highlight of the presentation was the ongoing development of a gate-based intraday market for the NordPool market, anticipated to feature three gates. This innovative model aims to enhance the responsiveness and efficiency of the electricity market, crucial for managing the increased demand for electricity-based services across various sectors and flexibility provision for a secure system. The PowerDig project’s contributions were particularly notable for their potential to influence market operations and aid in the transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy system.
